FAQ

#1 Can I use copyrighted music in my work?

In situations like these it’s always best to use music which you own the rights to. However, if you only use a small sample of that music, this will be fine. And of course you can conduct/create your own music as well.

#2 What if I have more than one entry?

Submitting multiple entries to the festival is fine, as long as each entry is accompanied with its own individual entry form.

#3 Is the deadline a post-marked deadline?

Yes, due to Philadelphia’s recent weather the Freese FF deadline is a post-marked deadline. Depending on where you’re mailing your entry from it should arrive early next week. We would advise that you pay for a delivery confirmation from USPS or whichever delivery service you use, so that you know it has been delivered to us.

#4 Is there any rules regarding the length of my entry?

A good length for a piece submitted to our festival is anywhere from 2 minutes at the least to 10 minutes at the max. 5-8 minutes is optimal because it allows us to program as many entries as possible.

#5 What if I co-directed my film or video with my friends?

We welcome collaborative works. However, we need you to put each directors’ full name on the same entry form. The award would be equally divided between the number of the directors.
